Old paintings were heaped haphazardly around old trunks overflowing with moth-eaten clothing. Off in a corner, awash in a ray of warm sunlight lay a small wooden box with a key in its lock. It just felt important.
Story Starts
Saturday, August 18th, 2007So I’ve had this idea percolating in the back of my mind for a while and figured I might as well do something about it. Here goes.
What is Story Starts?
Story Starts is some odd, random part of a story that kicks around in my head and I put it here and let you, my readers, flesh out the story within the comments. Think of it as a perpetual story. I don’t know if it’ll work or not, but it seems like a fun thing to try and it will give me a place to put all these random, partial story blurbs that I come up with and haven’t an idea what to do with them.
The rules.
There are only a couple of ground rules I’d like to maintain:
- Keep it clean. Nothing profane or vulgar. My kids sometimes pop over for a visit, as do family and friends and I’d hate for them to endure something like that from my site. If you can’t contribute without dredging the depths. Don’t participate.
- Have fun and don’t take it too seriously. I’m not and I don’t expect you to either.
Story Start #1: It all started yesterday…
It all started yesterday afternoon. I’m not exactly sure if I decided to go or if fate just pushed me in that direction. Not that it matters now. The whirlwind of events still leaves my head spinning when I stop to think about it.
