Off in a corner, awash in a ray of warm sunlight lay a small wooden box with a key in its lock. It just felt important.

So I’ve had this idea percolating in the back of my mind for a while and figured I might as well do something about it. Here goes.

What is Story Starts?
Story Starts is some odd, random part of a story that kicks around in my head and I put it here and let you, my readers, flesh out the story within the comments. Think of it as a perpetual story. I don’t know if it’ll work or not, but it seems like a fun thing to try and it will give me a place to put all these random, partial story blurbs that I come up with and haven’t an idea what to do with them.

The rules.
There are only a couple of ground rules I’d like to maintain:

  1. Keep it clean. Nothing profane or vulgar. My kids sometimes pop over for a visit, as do family and friends and I’d hate for them to endure something like that from my site. If you can’t contribute without dredging the depths. Don’t participate.
  2. Have fun and don’t take it too seriously. I’m not and I don’t expect you to either.

Story Start #1: It all started yesterday…
It all started yesterday afternoon. I’m not exactly sure if I decided to go or if fate just pushed me in that direction. Not that it matters now. The whirlwind of events still leaves my head spinning when I stop to think about it.
